Obituary of Dorothy S Evoy

Dorothy M (nee Stratford) Evoy, age 100, of North Cape May passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home. Dorothy was born in Altoona, PA. She resided in Haddon Heights, NJ; Manasota, FL; Stone Harbor, NJ; and Venice, FL; before moving to North Cape May. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar Ray & Blanche Hicks Stratford (who died during Dorothy's birth), her adopted parents Thomas Foster & Martha Appleby Stratford; as well as her siblings: Mildred Dow, Gladys Hicks, Edgar Stratford, Blanchard Stratford, Thomas Stratford, Robert Stratford, Leslie Stratford, Harriet Stratford, Annie Stratford, Janet Kloos, Jane Stratford, Gilbert Stratford, Thomas F Stratford, and Theodore R Stratford. She was also preceded in death by her husband William B Evoy and her sons William B Evoy, Jr and Wyn WA Evoy, Sr. Dorothy was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and attended Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA. She was a former member of the Cape May Chapter #156 OES. Dorothy had many hobbies and loved and excelled at cooking, sewing, entertaining, writing, painting and playing cards. However, what she excelled at most was living each day to the fullest. Survivors include her children: Martha E Fidler and Susan D (James) Hilton; her grandchildren: Kim (David), Bill (Lucy), Chris (Jennifer), Wyn Jr (Lynne), Lauren (Jacob), Jamie, Guy (Dana), Carey (Steve), Jennifer (Michael); 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
