Albert M. Speed, age 92, of Villas passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Victorian Manor Nursing Home in N. Cape May, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Albert was born July 26, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA. He served his country in the US Army 80th Division during World War II in the European Theartre. Albert was in four campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. Albert resided seasonally in Villas, NJ from 1950-1980. In 1980 he became a year round resident. Albert retired as a wall paper hanger from Fleck Wall Covering, Willow Grove after working there for 40 years. He was a member of the VFW Charles Buddy Lewis Post 5342 in the Villas and the American Legion Post in Cape May. Albert was preceded in death by his wife Violet (nee McAnany) Speed in 2003. He is survived by a son Gregory (Arlene) Speed of Petersburg, NJ; and a daughter Karen (Bob) McGeehan of Villas, NJ. He also has four grandchildren: Dawn Martenz, Raffaele Capone, Capt. USAF Matt Speed, and Anthony Capone; four great-grandchildren: Charlotte Mae, Jacob Thomas Martenz, Madelyn Violet, & Emily Valentine Speed; and a nephew Robert Binkley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at St. John Neumann Parish ; St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Albert's memory to the Disabled AmericanVeterans, 1010 Bayshore Rd, Del Haven, NJ 08251. Condolences may be shared at www.evoyfuneralhome.com.
