Francis Thomas Sweeney, age 68, of Del Haven passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Francis was born May 6, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA; and has been a Cape May area resident for 37 years. He is the son of the late Anthony and the late Anne (Sweeney) Colella. Francis served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a self employed roofing contractor. Francis was a member of St Raymond's RC Church and was an avid fly fisherman. He is survived by: his wife of 37 years Rosemary (nee Marchina) Sweeney of Del Haven; his three sons: Paul (Tina) Sweeney of Harrisonburg, VA, Francis M Sweeney of Erma, NJ, & John J Sweeney (US Marine Corps); and his three daughters: Melissa Martindale of New Caney, TX, Erin Sweeney of Del haven, NJ, & Caitlin (Erik Nelson) Sweeney of Manahawkin, NJ. Also surviving are his brother Anthony Colella of Huntingdon, NY; his sisters: Cathy Lefchuk of West Chester, PA & Maria Wiemken of Chestnut Hill, PA; and 6 grandchildren. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 Am on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, N Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
