Kevin M Gurnsey, age 57, of Rio Grande passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. Kevin was born August 3, 1956 in Cape May Court House, NJ; and has been a life-long area resident. In his early years, he worked in the family business Gurnsey's Restaurant in Rio Grande; later working as a carpenter & framer for various local construction firms. Kevin enjoyed riding his motorcycle, relaxing on the beach, and cooking. He was "gruff" but gentle and those who knew him well appreciated his dry sense of humor. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Ernest & Monica (Diehl) Gurnsey and his brother Ernie Gurnsey. He is survived by his wife Lee Cathrall (nee Erlandson); his sister Judy White; and his sister-in-law Gwen Gurnsey. Also surviving are his nephew Bryan White and his nieces: Courtney (Ken) Harker, Ann Gurnsey, and Tracy Gurnsey; along with three great nephews; one great niece; four step children: Amy, Stacy, Christine, & Nathan Cathrall; and his loyal companions Bella & Coco. He was a sincere friend to many and will be dearly missed by all. Kevin will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
