Obituary of James J Hienkel Jr.

James Hienkel Jr. passed away January 29, 2024 peacefully at home with his family. Jimmie also known as Hienk had a love for music. Jimmie played the drums in his first band "The Diamonds" during his teenage years. He continued to play the drums in bands throughout the years. Jimmie enlisted in the U.S Navy in which he did two tours in Vietnam from 1967-1972. Jimmie served his first tour on the USS Dixie Ad14 and his second tour on the USS Chicago. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Jimmie worked for the Cape May County MUA as Head Mechanic for 25 years. Jimmie is survived by his wife Lynn, their 4 children, Melissa Foley (John), James (Monica), Christopher and Amanda. 3 grandchildren, Ava, Barry, Eric and brother William (Jamie). Jimmie was predeceased by his father James Hienkel Sr and mother Patricia Hienkel. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11AM at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., North Cape May, NJ. Family and friends may come from 10-11AM for visitation with the family. Interment will immediately follow the service at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House, NJ.
