John "Jack R. Yeakel, age 76 of Philadelphia passed away on Monday December 18, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia and was a life long resident having last lived in the Bridesburg Section. He was graduate of Northeast High School class of 1965. Jack was a retired Detective for the Philadelphia Police Department where he worked for 28 years. He served his county in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War. Jack was a Philadelphia sports fanatic and enjoyed golfing and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion Post #184 in Wildwood and the DAV in Philadelphia. Jack is survived by his wife Beth Yeakel; children, John (Regina) Yeakel and their children Veronica and Frances Yeakel; Gina (John) Marshall and their daughter Amanda Bolli.; Monica (Michael) Shaw and their children Aria and Eva; also leaves his brother, Rev. James R. Yeakel OSFS. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Thursday December 21, 2023 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ 08204. The viewing will be followed by a catholic prayer service at 2 pm. Burial will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Legion, POST #184, 4200 Atlantic Avenue, PO Box 1405, Wildwood, NJ 08260
