Obituary of James Mahon

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James (Jim) Mahon died on September 3, 2023 after a 4-year battle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Agoglia) of 36 years, his son Joseph and his son-in-law Stephen, his sister Mary Rudolph (Stephen) and his brother Matt Mahon (Donna). He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary (Eileen) Mahon, and his brother Danny. He grew up in Rockaway Point and was a former Chief of the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a proud medic in the Navy from 1961-1967 onboard the USS Little Rock and in Vietnam. His career serving as a Safety Officer in the United States Military Sealift Command (who serve as our Navy's support fleet) will always remain his proudest time in his service to our country. He and Joan retired in Cape May County, NJ and loved the beach community since 2012; after living for 20 years in Chesapeake, VA for his work in the Navy. A proud supporter of President Joe Biden, he would want all of you to know he served under every Commander -in-Chief since JFK and was a proud Democrat and Veteran. Jim will be cremated according to his final wishes and buried in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery. There will only be a small private service at graveside. In his honor , Jim wants you to make a toast to him, smile and remember him warmly as a lifelong fan of the Mets, Rangers and Giants; and as a good, kind man.
