Obituary of Charles Calvin Cessna

Charles C Cessna, age 88, of North Cape May passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Pennsylvania Hospital of Philadelphia, PA. Charles was born December 16, 1927 in Philadelphia's Roxborough section; and became a Cape May area resident in 1984. He is the son of the late Maurice Franklin and the late Hilma Alice (Swedelund) Cessna. Charles served his country in the US Navy from 1945 to 1952. He retired in 1984 from the Philadelphia Police Department after serving for 25 years. Charles also was a security driver for the CEO of Central Penn Bank and also worked many jobs at the Wildwood Country Club including in the bag room. He was an avid golfer and a Life Member of the Wildwood Country Club, belonged to the Villas VFW, the Elks Club, and the Moose Club. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edna (Moore) Cessna in 2011; his two sons: David & Robert; his grandson Charles, and two brothers. He is survived by two daughters: Alice (Frank) Porrini, Karen Baeringer-Cessna and two sons: Maurice F Cessna & Charles C (Vera) Cessna, Jr. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
