On August 2, 1978, William Edward Flick—known to many as Bill—entered the world. No one could have imagined all he would accomplish during the 48 short years we were blessed to have him in our lives.

It is with great sadness that the family of William Edward Flick, Sr. announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, August 18th.

Born and raised in Fishtown one of the suburbs of Philadelphia PA, to Deborah Flick Racela, he moved to the Wildwoods at the age of 7 to stay with his grandmother. He attended the schools in Wildwood including Wildwood High but Bill being like only he was – his tough one-of-a-kind personality moved him to Cape May County Special Services School. His tough nature and personality is what made Bill. He had a heart like no other.

Bill had a deep love for those who served in the United States Military and those who were less fortunate. He was a true American volunteering his time with local food pantries including the Cape May Food Pantry, the local Veteran’s organizations including CVAC and local USA flag delivery throughout the local area. His true colors showed in his Patriotism which included his signature favorite color red including his truck right down to the rims and tail gate.

Whenever someone called on Bill, he was always there to help—a true reflection of his Philly roots. He was hardworking and dedicated. At a young age, Bill was taken under the wing of his Uncle Dave, who taught him the ins and outs of electrical work. Bill carried that skill forward and eventually earned a position with Anzelone Electric in Cape May Court House.

He was truly a unique and one-of-a-kind individual.

The Greater Cape May Elks 2839 will surely miss Bill. Not only was he a member and volunteer bartender, but he was also an officer- Loyal Knight. Again, Bill loved the community and his friends and family.

When Bill wasn’t volunteering his time, he cherished the moments he had with his grandchildren Christian and Christopher. He truly was the best Pop and enjoyed attending wrestling matches, venturing to the Boardwalk, playing Santa, and just being Pop- each moment he cherished.

Before Bill became Pop Pop he was Dad or “Big Bill” to his two children, his daughter Gabrielle and his son William E., Jr. – whom he always called William until he turned 18 and then Bill gave him permission to be called Will.

Bill could recite every ’80s rap song, from Tupac and Run-DMC to Public Enemy and LL Cool J. He was truly a kid of that era. Nine years ago, when he met Denay Marino – his soulmate and love of his life; his taste in music began to change. He took the time to listen closely to the lyrics of his girl’s favorite songs, never imagining it would lead to a love story. Together, they were inseparable. Denay brought him back to Cape May Lutheran Church, where Bill recently got down on one knee and asked her to become his wife. Their love was—and is—truly a gift from above.

Bill will be missed by so many people throughout Cape May County.

In addition, he will be forever cherished and cherished by his mother Deb; sister Rachel; brother Rory; dear friends Nick Anzelone, Mike Hurley, Mel and Bud Chambers; cousins David and Joey Flick; and his furry friends Socks and Buddy.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 1PM Tuesday, September 1st at Cape May Lutheran Church 509 Pittsburgh Ave Cape May NJ 08204. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:30AM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
