Margaret Hoey Obituary
Margaret Hoey, 81, North Cape May, formerly of Southwest Philadelphia, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 12 at her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born June 30, 1944 in Philadelphia PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Riddle) Chestnut. Early in life Peg worked as a waitress at Henrys and then Robinson’s Diner. She then dedicated her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Peg was a proud 40 plus year member of AA where she made many dear friends. She had a strong devotion to her faith and attended St. John of God RC Church or St. Raymond RC Church. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and could often be found sitting down by Douglass Park reading a good book.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William who died August 2, 2011; infant daughter Kelly; brother Tommy Chestnut and sister Cassie O’Flynn.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Tracy Witz (John), Nicole Hoey (Mae Veloso), Rachel Hatton and Annamarie “Nancy” McCullough (Daniel); grandchildren Jamie (Dan), John, Rachel (Sean), Bobby, Kelly, James (Simran), Matthew, Danielle (Ashley), Jessica, William, Joseph and Sean; great grandchildren Daniel, Josh, Jessica, Hailey and Scarlett; brother Billy Reilly (Susan); sister Patricia Reilly (Marty); and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Saturday, April 25 from 10:30-12:30 at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God 680 Town Bank Road North Cape May. Interment will be held privately on the grounds of Cold Spring Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Branches Outreach Center 201 Vermont Ave Rio Grande NJ 08242.
