Anthony Michael "Butch" Kilman, Sr. Obituary

Anthony Michael "Butch" Kilman, Sr., a devoted husband to Franny, father, grandfather, uncle, veteran, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of the family he cherished so deeply. He was a man of quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Loved beyond measure, Butch leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and family that will be treasured for generations.

Butch shared 56 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Franny. Together, they built a wonderful life in Sharon Hill, PA where they raised their four children: Tanya (Dan), Tina (Clark), Anthony (Sarah), and Matthew (Frannie). Their home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the welcoming spirit that Butch and Frances created together.

Butch proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. His time in service reflected his lifelong love of the water and his commitment to hard work and discipline - qualities that defined him throughout his life. Following his service, he continued his dedication to hard work, spending many years at the Navy Yard, where he was known for his tireless work ethic and dependable nature.

He was the proud and loving Pop-Pop to his fourteen grandchildren - Connor, Andrew, Zachery, Arric, Nicholas, Dain, Ekatarina, Thomas, Matthew, Nathaniel, Gabriella, Khloe, Genevieve, and Bella - each of whom adored him. Butch cherished his role as grandfather and never missed an opportunity to teach life’s lessons, whether it was how to properly care for the American flag, tie Navy knots, or simply lend a helping hand. His guidance, patience, and love will live on in each of them.

Butch was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth; his father, Anthony; his brother, Stephen; and his twin sister, Anne Marie. He is survived by his sister, Judy, as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends whom he treasured deeply.

Butch loved a good story and his garden, and he and Franny hosted countless dinners filled with laughter, conversation, and friendship. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer thoughtful advice. Whether family, friend, or neighbor, Butch made everyone feel welcome and supported.

Much of Butch’s life was spent near the water. In addition to his Navy service and work as an Electrician at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, he volunteered for ten years as a board member of the local swim club, where he managed maintenance and generously gave of his time and talents. In 1997, Butch and Franny made Cape May their permanent home. There, he continued his hardworking ways, working at the Cape May - Lewes Ferry, and later as a machinist at the Cape May Airport, where he finished his working career.

Butch lived his life with purpose, generosity, and love. He was always there - ready to help, ready to listen, and ready to share wisdom. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was loved beyond measure and will be missed for a lifetime.

A celebration of Butch’s life is being planned for a later date.
