Barbara (Benedetto) McClay, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born in West Philadelphia, she was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, and graduated from West Catholic Girls High School. Barbara lived in Aldan, PA, West Cape May, NJ, Daytona Beach, FL, and Collingdale, PA, until happily settling down at the shore.

Barbara was employed at West Cape May and Consolidated Elementary schools serving lunches to students. in 2002 she retired as the kitchen manager at Ashland Middle School in PA.

Barbara enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband Bill, spending time with family, the beach, reading, going to yard sales, playing cards on Thursdays with her lady friends, donating to her many favorite charities, and being a faithful member of St. Raymond’s Parish.

Barbara is survived by her children, Rita (Robb), Vincent, Michael, Donna (Garretson), Laura Snow (Michael), William and Linda. Thirteen grandchildren, Barbara (Nick), Gary Jr. (Quinn), Domenic, Marc (Jen), Nicole, Tony (Stephanie), Clay, Holly, Cain, William, Marissa, Sean and Sara. Thirteen great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Cole, Emir, Isla, Brooke, Lydia, Scarlet, Landon, Tripp, Mckinley, Jason, Monroe, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her brother, William Benedetto. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Domenic Benedetto, her husband William D. McClay, son- in-laws Gary and John. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Hospital for children.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 10AM Tuesday, March 10th at The Parish of St. John Neumann Church of Saint Raymond, Bayshore and Ocean Roads, Villas, NJ 08251. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM immediately following the viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
