William “Bill” Kimsey, 91, of Rio Grande, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on February 26,2026.
Born on October 9, 1934, to Charles and Roberta Kimsey (Wilson), Bill was a lifelong resident of the Cape May area and a proud 1953 graduate of Cape May High School. After graduation, he worked at the Magnesite Plant in Cape May Point until 1956, when he joined the United States Army, serving honorably until 1959. Bill was a hardworking and dependable man who dedicated his life to both his family and his community. Over the years, he worked for Prudential Insurance Company, Fare Free Transportation, and later retired from the Lower Cape May Regional School District, where he spent more than 20 years as a dedicated school bus driver. To generations of students, he was a steady and familiar presence each school day.
He gave generously of his time, coaching Babe Ruth Little League Baseball, volunteering with Lower Township Little League, and serving as former president of the Lower Township Optimist Club. Bill believed in leading by example and investing in the lives of young people in his community.
Family was always at the center of Bill’s life. In addition to lovingly raising three children as his own, he was also a proud father to his two children, by providing for all of them, guiding them, and standing as a constant source of strength and stability. He never sought recognition for this role — he simply showed up every day and did what needed to be done. His devotion and unwavering commitment defined the kind of man he was.
Bill found great joy in camping trips with his wife,in-laws, and friends, cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles, and most especially, fishing with his grandson, Zach — moments he treasured deeply.
In retirement, he faithfully attended Tuesday morning breakfasts at the Flight Deck with his fellow retired buddies, where they shared stories, laughter, and attempted to solve the world’s problems — a task still unfinished
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Barbara Kimsey (Zeiss); his children, Barbie Kimsey,Cheryl Sida (Kimsey), John “Buzz” Miller, and Debbie Cooper (Miller); and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patti Fecca (Miller).
Services will be held 11AM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10AM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Bill will be remembered for his strength, humility, steady work ethic, and above all, his devotion to his family. His legacy is not only in the years he lived, but in the lives he helped shape and the love he gave so faithfully
