Virginia C. Reed (Pugh) 87 years old of Lower Township NJ (formerly of the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia Pennsylvania)
Virginia C. Reed (Pugh) 87 years old of Lower Township NJ was summoned by the Lord on the morning of Tuesday February 3, 2026 to join him in heaven. Virginia passed away at the Atlantic Care Mainland Hospital in Pomona NJ after an unexpected illness. Virginia was born on August 13 1938 and raised in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She later moved to Cape May County NJ.
Virginia C. Reed was somebody who liked to travel with her husband Gerald Reed and son David Reed on vacations and camping trips throughout the country. She also enjoyed attending her husband Gerald Reed’s yearly navy ship reunion (APA 44 Fremont) with him.
It was always a good time whenever she could spend time with her 3 children David Reed, June Coombs (Wilson) and Bill Wilson Jr and their families. She especially enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren where she could commonly be seen at dance recitals, sporting events, school plays and other functions. Virginia was affectionately referred to as Mom Mom Tic Tac by her grandchildren a name given to her by her oldest one Jessica. She loved animals especially turtles and dogs.
Virginia was a 1956 graduate of Jules E. Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and received a full scholarship and attended Temple University medical school for a short time. She was also a very proud lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served 66 years as a member after joining on January 6 1960.Virginia originally joined the Mt. Olive chapter # 232 and served as a member until it merged with signet chapter # 129 of Warminster PA and continued to enjoy being. a member with them.
Virginia later went on to get her L.P.N. license after moving to NJ. Virginia was a L.P.N. and worked for many years at the Crest Haven Nursing Home. But she was best known throughout South Jersey as the owner and operator of the Cape Nurses' Registry for several years a company that specializes in private duty nursing and staffing. She was a volunteer for the Baysea Cub Day Camp in 1983 where she helped run the first aid department for the campers and staff.
Virginia C. Reed is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years Gerald Reed of Lower Township NJ her son David P. Reed of Lower Township NJ son William G. Wilson Jr and his wife Lisa Wilson (Dunleavy) of Town Bank NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica Davis (Coombs) and her husband Conor Davis of Rio Grande NJ. Rachael Stone (Coombs) and her husband Vince Stone of Villas NJ. Kelly Tracey (Coombs) and her husband Scott Tracey of North Cape May NJ. William G. Wilson the 3rd of Cape May NJ. Brittany Greenwood (Wilson) and her husband Tom Greenwood of Cape May Courthouse NJ. Great grandchildren Harper Davis of Rio Grande NJ. Julianna Stone of Villas NJ, Vinny Stone of Villas NJ. Stella Tracey of North Cape May NJ. Ivy Tracey of North Cape May NJ. Thomas Greenwood of Cape May Courthouse. Harlan Greenwood of Cape May Courthouse. Virginia C. Reed is also survived by her godchild Kristin Anderson (Reed) and her husband Tim Anderson of Ewing NJ. She is survived by her many nephews and nieces.
Sadly Virginia C. Reed is preceded in death by her parents Albert L. Pugh and Ida Mae (Wildermuth) Pugh. Her grandfather Hugh Pugh. Her daughter June Rose Coombs (Wilson) and her husband Robert "Bobby" Keith Coombs. Her mother-in-law Blanche S. Reed and cousin Jane Wildermuth Hebden.
Viewing and funeral services will be held at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May N.J. 08204. Visitation will be on Friday, February 13th, 2026 at 1:00 pm with services to follow at 2:00 pm. The graveside burial will be held following the services at 3:00 pm. Burial will take place at the historic Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery in Cold Spring NJ. Located at 780 Seashore Road Cape May NJ 08204.
