Beverly J. Linn Obituary

      Beverly J. Linn died on January 13, 2026 in Del Haven, NJ.

      

      Beverly was born February 27, 1932 to George C. Tews and Pearl C. Krug Tews in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Tews Family moved to Ashton, IL. in 1942 where Beverly graduated from Ashton Community High School in 1949.  Beverly worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. C. R. Root.  


      Beverly then went on to Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL, graduating in 1953.  Beverly was then employed in the Operating Room as a Head Nurse and Research Laboratory Supervisor where she was involved in perfecting the first Open Heart-Lung Bypass machine in the city of Chicago.  She left to attend the University of Illinois.

       

      Beverly married F. William Linn, Jr in 1962 in Chicago, IL. where she was active in golfing, bridge and a local ski club.  She then moved to Elizabeth, NJ in 1963, and later Bound Brook, NJ where she lived for 33 years.  Beverly was a devoted mother who was involved in the Bound Brook Little League, Girl Scouts as Brownie Leader, a volunteer nurse for the Girl Scout camping trips, taught first aid to the Junior Girl Scouts and was also the Outdoor Consultant.  Beverly was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and worked as a substitute nurse in the Bound Brook and Middlesex School systems. Beverly was a member of a local couples and ladies bridge clubs. Beverly was a master seamstress and sewed many of her own and her children's clothes, decorated with beautiful curtains she made for her home and her children's homes.  Beverly ran the family hardware store in Bound Brook, NJ called “Linn’s Hardware”.  


      She returned to nursing in 1981 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where she was Head Nurse in Orthopedics in the Operating Room, retiring in 1997.

      

      After retirement, Beverly moved to Cape May, NJ where she became an avid birder and enjoyed gardening to attract birds and butterflies. She volunteered at the Cape May Bird Observatory.  Beverly loved to read and was a member of a book club and the Civil War Round Table in Cape May.  Beverly enjoyed the theatre and days at the shore laying in the sun. Beverly loved to travel which took her to many countries and all 50 US states.  In 2021 Beverly moved to Brookdale, Cape May assisted living and was very active and loved living there.  Beverly was a loyal friend and would be the first on the scene to help someone in trouble. 

  

     She is survived by her four children: Patrick G. Linn (Beth) of Bridgewater, NJ, Adelaide K. Mitchell (Kenneth) of Boise, ID, Beverly J. Hoech (Stephan) of Del Haven, NJ and Paul Linn (Robert Smith) of Blue Ridge, GA. She leaves two grandchildren, Ryan, of Boise, ID and Collin Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV, a brother Melvin Tews (Norene) of Tampa FL and a sister Sherry Cunningham (David) of Sierra Vista, AZ.


      Beverly will be buried in Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL.

       

      Memorials are suggested to Cape May Bird Observatory or The Nature Conservancy.
