James Iozzo Obituary

James E. Iozzo, 78, Rio Grande, entered into heavenly rest Saturday evening, November 29 at Cooper-Cape Regional Medical Center.

Born August 15, 1947 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Lillian (Noga) Iozzo. After graduating from high school, James enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and had served proudly for 22 years. During his time in the Coast Guard, he learned a variety of skills. He mastered the craft of welding and repaired many Coast Guard vessels. This skill would eventually lead him to a career as a welding instructor at Cape May County Technical High School where he spent over 16 years teaching students . Transferring his skills to his students, he taught them how to fix whatever they encountered leaving a lasting legacy of his knowledge. His motto was “If we can’t fix it, it ain’t broken”.

Jim excelled in everything he touched. He had a passion for restoring antique furniture and his old truck. He also crafted jewelry and loved gardening. He had a keen eye for discarded items that could be repurposed into unique treasures. One of Jim’s proudest restorations was our home. Jim had a passion for music. He loved listening and playing. After he retired he would sing for residents at the local nursing homes as well as for his church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Edward and Randy.
