Mary Ann Wood Hill passed away peacefully at her home in Wildwood Crest on November 27, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1960, and raised in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Mary Ann earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Millersville University and devoted over 30 years to teaching and public education. She began her career working with special education students before becoming the 8th-grade language arts teacher in the Pottstown School District, where she inspired generations of young readers and writers.

An avid runner her whole life, Mary Ann also served as the head coach of the Pottstown boys’ high school track and field team, leading them to multiple State Championships in 1993 and 1994, as well as numerous PAC 10 and District 1 championships. She was an enthusiastic member of the “Brookside Babes” and the Exit 4A Crest Best Book Club, and cherished every summer afternoon at the beach, a love she carried with her throughout her life.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hill; her son, Thomas (TJ) Hill; her mother, Catherine Wood; her sister, Cindy Wood Morris, and her husband, Trip Morris; her brothers, Frederick (Jay) Wood and his wife, Deirdre Wood, and Michael Wood; and many nieces and nephews who adored her. She also leaves behind her beloved Border Collie, Simone.

Mary Ann’s warmth, wit, and unwavering commitment to her students and community touched many lives. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of books and the shore, and the pride she took in her family.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 5, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home, 711 North Franklin St., Pottstown, PA, with a memorial service to follow from 6:00–7:00 p.m.
