On November 30, 2025, the world got a little quieter, and a lot less entertaining, when Joan (Stilwell) Jenkins passed away peacefully at home. Joan wasn’t just memorable; she was a force of nature, known for her sharp wit, her no-nonsense attitude, and a sassy charm that could light up (or stir up) any room.
For 40 years, she shared life with her husband, Frank Jenkins, who lovingly put up with her playful eye-rolls, quick comebacks, and the many times she was absolutely sure she was right, and usually was. Together, they built a life full of laughter, partnership, and just the right amount of chaos, all while raising five children who inherited her stubborn streak, her humor, and at least some of her sass.
Joan had a passion for gardening, though she’d be the first to say half those plants survived on fear alone. She ruled the kitchen with her baking, and heaven help anyone who tried to snag a cookie before they cooled. She loved the beach, not just for the sun, but for the people watching opportunities she took very seriously.
At the casino and during bingo nights, Joan carried herself with the calm confidence of someone who knew the odds were secretly on her side. She played quietly, never drawing attention and that’s exactly how she preferred it. If she hit a lucky streak, you’d never hear of her brag. She’d just give a subtle little smile, tuck her winnings away like it was nobody’s business (because it wasn’t), and move right along as if nothing happened.
She also loved spending time volunteering at the senior center, where she somehow managed to be helpful, entertaining, and just the right amount of bossy all at once. Whether she was organizing, chatting, or keeping everyone on their toes, Joan brought her special brand of energy wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Jenkins; her daughters Tracy (John) and Donna (Dave); and her sons Mark and Frank Jr; and daughter-in-law Joanne Taylor. Joan is also survived by her siblings Susan Dadura, Danny Stilwell, and Marge Elias, as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, John Stilwell and Virginia (Stilwell) Buckley; her son Rick Taylor; and her siblings Virginia Twombly and Albert Stilwell.
Services are private, at the convenience of the family.
