We bid farewell to Robert J Ganter of Villas, New Jersey, who died peacefully on October 27 at the age of 81 after battling cancer for more than one year. Robert was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Father Judge High School in 1962.
Robert served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon discharge, he took advantage of the GI Bill and graduated from Temple University in 1979. Most of his career was spent in the Finance industry as a manager for a bill collection agency.
Robert was married to Mary Elizabeth for days short of 22 years before her death. He was blessed to retire to the Jersey Shore, a longtime dream of his. It was there that he fell in love with Joanna Piraino who died in February 2022.
The greatest joys of his life included: being in love; observing nature; a great meal; watching and discussing sports; telling jokes or stories; observing his faith, and his family, especially being a dad.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Marian (Eagan) Marcinek and his wife, Mary Elizabeth (McDevitt). He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Rose (Ed), and his siblings Marian, James (Margaret), and Terri (Richard Nulty). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 10AM Friday, November 7th at The Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God, 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM immediately following the viewing. In lieu of flowers, Robert would have liked donations to be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
