John "Woody" Wood Obituary

John J. Wood, affectionately known as “Woody,” passed away peacefully in his Villas home, where he resided for over 35 years.


Born and raised in Philadelphia, Woody built a vibrant life surrounded by countless friends and family who cherished him deeply. As he wished, he was joined at his bedside by loved ones, including his nephew, Phillip Smith and wife, Bonnie Wood, who held his hand as he transitioned.


Woody is survived by his wife Bonnie, nephew and Godson Johnny (Jr.) Cain, nephew Phillip Smith, sister Joan and brother Harvey, along with numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Many will remember the cherished annual gatherings hosted at his home, filled with warmth and camaraderie.


Woody was a cherished, life-time member of the fishing club and well-known with the town children, as he was their Santa Clause for 40 years.


A funeral service to celebrate Woody’s remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, October 8th from 3:30 to 4:30 at Evoy Funeral Home at 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, Nj.


All who knew and loved him are invited to join at 3:30 PM, with a reception to follow at the Villas Fishing Club where he was life time member.
