Deborah Darlene LeGates (Debby), Age 77, of Egg Harbor city and Lower Township, New Jersey passed away at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Debby was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1948 to Walter and Ida LeGates.  Debby Was predeceased in death by her parents and her brother, Walter James.

Debby was a retired teacher from Lower Township Elementary Schools.  She retired after 40+ years of teaching with the school district. Even after retirement, she enjoyed sharing her love of learning with whomever she met.  Debby Always tried her best to instill a love of reading in her students. She loved teaching and enriching the minds of every student that passed through her classroom door, so it seems fitting for her to have passed away on the first day of this school year.

Debbie is survived and dearly missed by her friends and chosen family, Dorothy and Michael Ingalsby as well as Pete, Kathleen, and Sadie Mazari, especially Sadie, to whom she was an honorary grandmother. She will be miss tremendously, but her kind and loving nature will not be forgotten.

Private funeral services and interment were held on the grounds of Cold Spring Cemetery.
