Pete was born in Minnesota to Lawrence and Ruth Holt. A graduate of Kean College, he taught 5th grade for the Irvington Public School District. He moved to South Jersey where he worked for Lower Township Elementary Schools. Pete served as the District Interim Superintendent, Principal of the Consolidated School and Villas Memorial School. He facilitated the opening of the first modular school in the area, Carl Mitnick School, where he served as the first Principal. Pete retired in 2000.

Pete served as a Middle Township Shade Tree Commissioner, Juvenile Justice Committee member, Church Deacon and Meeting Moderator. He was a yearly judge for the West Cape May Christmas Parade. He was a longtime volunteer coach for the Middle Township High School Softball Team and ACCC Boys Basketball Coach. He enjoyed supporting his daughters and never missed a game or marching band competition. Pete loved NASCAR, the New York Yankees, and the New York Giants and was always ready with sports trivia questions!

Survived by his wife Margaret, his daughters Cathy, Kelly, and Kristen, Grandchildren Ryan, Maggie, Kelsea, Megan, Joe, Andrew and Liam, Great Grandchildren Jaxson, JD, Jayce, and Wesley. Also survived by his twin brother Larry, sister Gretchen, and brother Bob.
