Cheryl M Prettyman Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Cheryl M. Prettyman announces her unexpected passing. Born on December 17, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cheryl was one of six children of Loren “Pete” Prettyman and Helen (Muckleston) Lyon. She was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School where she forged and maintained many cherished friendships.

A beautiful spirit with a vibrant personality, Cheryl possessed a deep appreciation for music, the arts and diverse cultures. Though she once dreamed of becoming a rock-and-roll singer, her path changed with the arrival of her beloved twins, Carl and Kimberly. Among her many colorful stories, she often recounted the unforgettable memory of crossing paths with the legendary Jimi Hendrix at a New York club.

Her love of global cultures was beautifully reflected in her home and travels. Whether exploring Spain, Morocco, Quebec, Hawaii, Mexico or enjoying Caribbean cruises and relaxing by the sea, Cheryl brought the essence of her journeys back with her—decorating her surroundings with the flair and spirit of the places she visited.

Above all, Cheryl’s greatest devotion was to her family. She was unwavering in her presence at family gatherings and celebrations—never without her hazelnut coffee and always impeccably dressed. Her refined fashion sense was just one of the many qualities that made her unforgettable from the instant you met her.

When not traveling or visiting loved ones, Cheryl enjoyed quiet moments at home in her cozy beach cottage with her cherished cat, Snowy, while indulging in her favorite crime shows or tending to her garden cultivating her favorite flower - Calla Lilies.

Cheryl retired from her career as an administrative assistant, having previously served as an executive secretary for the ICEE Company and concluding her professional journey at Universal Tape Company in Somers Point, NJ.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, James “Jimi” and Loren “Pete.” Cheryl (“Candy Gram”) leaves behind a loving legacy carried on by her children, Carl Deppenschmidt III, husband of Kristen, and Kimberly Viscount, wife of David; grandchildren Meghan Scully Fox, wife of Kevin, Erika Lyn Deppenschmidt, wife of Rachel, Carl Deppenschmidt IV, Briana Viscount and great-granddaughter Quinn Fox. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael and Gary Prettyman; her sister, Kathleen Prettyman Mounts; her sisters-in-law, Christine Prettyman and Diane Capone and numerous nieces and nephews.
