Obituary of Michael J. O'Neill

Michael J O’Neill Left this world on June 11, 2025, at just 55 years old. Born in Philadelphia to Marie (“Sis”) and Francis O’Neill, Michael grew up in Southwest Philly and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys. Over the years, Michael wore many hats, but his favorite role by far was being a Fudgy Wudgy Man on the Wildwood beaches—a job that brought him joy, sunshine, and laughter. A gifted guitarist, Michael had a deep passion for music and spent countless hours entertaining friends, family, and strangers alike with the songs of his soul. Michael was predeceased by his beloved parents, Sis and Franny; his maternal grandparents, Marie (Sis) and John Schonewolf; and his paternal grandparents, Natalie (“Nan”) and Francis O’Neill. He is survived by his loving sisters, Colleen and Marifrances (Neil) O’Neill; his nieces, Brittany (Nigel) and Lauren O’Neill; his godparents, Anne Marie (“Nancy”) Barilaro and Jack Schonewolf; and many dear cousins. He also leaves behind his 6-4 family, and the lights of his life—his great-nieces NyAsia, Mila, and Mya Cruz. Michael lived life fully and freely. He was a gentle soul who believed in peace, love, and good music. He wanted nothing more than to be remembered with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. Please join us in a Celebration of Life for “Oatie” on June 28, 2025, at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Visitation begins at 1PM with the service following at 2PM.
