Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert E. Vanaman, Jr. on Thursday, May 1 at Cooper Cape Regional Medical Center, Cape May Court House.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Cape May County. He was born in Cape May Court House on August 7, 1953 to his parents, the late Robert E. Sr. and Dorothy Joan (Robson)Vanaman.
His love of the seas led him to a career as a commercial fisherman and he eventually became a Captain. He owned and was the Captain of the Judy Rose. He also ran several other vessels including the Nancy Elizabeth, the Star Brite and the Instigator. Captain Bob was known and well respected by many not only in Cape May County but along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
When Captain Bob was not out on the seas, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to the oldies especially the songs of the Geator- Jerry Blavat.
Bob will forever be missed by the love of his life, his wife Paula R. (nee Kagamakos). The two would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 15th. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to his grandsons Michael and Matthew Vanaman. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Laurie Vanaman wife of his son Robert E. Vanaman III who passed away February 7, 2021 and his siblings Brenda Vanaman Ridgeway wife of Andy, Pamela Vanaman wife of James Flack, David Vanaman husband of Kim and Alice Vanaman DiCola.
