Thomas T Cassidy Obituary

Thomas T. Cassidy, 75, Villas, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening May 1st at Cooper University Hospital- Cape Regional in Cape May Court House.

Born September 1, 1949 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Margaret Mary (Wootten) Cassidy.

Tommy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. During that time, he was stationed on the USS Mt. Vernon. To say that Tommy was extremely proud of his time in the Navy could be an understatement. He loved the Navy and his commitment and sacrifice to keep our country safe was an honor for him. He was proud to be the Past Chief of Staff for the DAV and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

He grew up in Philadelphia and worked for SEPTA before relocating to the Villas where he resided for over 30 years. He loved the small town feel of the Villas and loved the people who lived there. Soon after relocating, he joined the Villas Fishing Club, the Elks and the Moose Lodge. Everyone in the Villas knew Tommy Cassidy and Tommy Cassidy knew everyone in the Villas. He became a local legend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Martha Jane Farraday on September 28, 1989.

Tommy is survived by his daughter Colleen Newlin wife of Robert; grandchildren Annabelle VanCleve, Skyler Newlin and Robbie Newlin, Jr; sister Dolores; nieces and nephews; and closest friends Sue and Bob Troy.

Funeral Services will be held 4PM Monday, May 12 at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3PM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
