James J. Meehan, 83 of Villas, NJ passed away on April 15, 2025 at Cooper University/Cape Regional Hospital, Cape May Court House, NJ after suffering for many years from kidney disease and COPD. He was born June 27, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to James and Veronica Meehan (deceased). James graduated from Mercy Technical School; he was than drafted into the United States Army. James was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He later worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Amtrak, after retiring, moved to Villas, NJ with his wife Barbara (Rhoades) Meehan, who preceded him in death. His brothers, Joseph and Michael Meehan also preceded him in death. James is survived by his sister Mary Pietrowski, nieces and nephews and his devoted nephew and caretaker, David Rhoades. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at St. John Neumann Parish/ St. Raymond Church, Bayshore Road and Ocean Avenue, Villas, NJ where relatives and friends will be received for the viewing from 10 to 11 am. Burial will follow the Mass at Cape May Co. Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House, NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Condolences will be received at www.EvoyFuneralHome.com.
