Donald Daniel Munno , age 84, of Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 24, 1940, in Manhattan, NY, to Salvatore and Blanche Munno, Donald attended Machine and Metal Trades High School, graduating in 1958. He dedicated 24 years of his career as a Building Maintenance Manager for the New York Telephone Company. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1965, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning a Distinguished Service Medal. A proud veteran, he was rarely seen without his Vietnam hat. He was a lifetime member of the Bayshore Sportsman Club and shared a deep bond with his brother, Richard Munno. Together, they were passionate collectors of Remington rifles, and their collection was featured in Remington Rolling Block Rifles, Carbines & Shotguns by Roy Marcot. Donald was also an avid Lionel train enthusiast, spending countless hours restoring and repairing model trains. After residing in Bergenfield, NJ, for 30 years, Donald retired to Cape May, where he and his wife, Evelyn, enjoyed 29 wonderful years. He will be remembered for his warm smile, quick wit, and love of a good joke. Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Evelyn Munno , his son Michael Munno of Morristown, NJ, his daughter Michelle Munno-Weir and son-in-law Jeremy Weir of Harleysville, PA, and his cherished grandsons Chase Thomas Jacobs, Aidan Daniel Jacobs, and Damien Weir . He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Richard Munno . Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 . The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the local VA Clinic for their compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 , at St. John Neumann Parish/St. John of God Church, 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May, NJ . Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 . Donald's legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion to family and country will forever be cherished.
