It is with great sadness the family of Mary LaVanture, 100, announces her passing on Monday morning, March 3 at North Cape Center.



Mary was born June 6, 1924 in Philadelphia PA, she was the daughter of the late Carmello and Jennie (LaMalfa) DeMaggio.



She was a February 1942 graduate of John Bartram High School. She retired from the General Electric Company where she worked in the office.



She and her husband Dean moved to Glenolden in 1968 and she resided their until 2024. While living in Glenolden, she was an active member of Holmes Presbyterian Church and she sang in the church choir for over 20 years.



Mary loved to travel with her family and friends. She and her husband Dean drove across the United States with their grandson enjoying the sites along the way; while she and her girl friends ventured to Hawaii and Italy.



When Mary was younger, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of a league in Philadelphia. She also loved to dance and was even a member of the Rhythm Steppers, a dance troupe that would tap dance at local nursing facilities.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Mark (October 2021) and a sister Rose DellaMotto.



Mary will forever be missed by her husband of 78 years and 8 months Dean LaVanture, daughter Karyn, son Brad husband of Sandy, daughter-in-law Patty, 10 grandchildren, 14 great -grandchildren, brother Edward DeMaggio, sister Dolores Lorenz wife of Paul and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May has been entrusted with arrangements.
