Ethel P. Whitt, 81, of Forked River, formerly a longtime resident of Neptune City, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born May 10, 1943 in Avon NJ. Ethel attended St. Rose Grammar and High School. After graduation, she went on to nursing school and became a registered nurse working at the Foundling Hospital.
Ethel settled down and started her family switching gears from an RN to everyone's favorite bus driver for over the next fifty plus years until her retirement.
In her down time, she could be found at the nearest beach staring out over the waves; unless it was a Saturday night, then she would be at Wall Stadium.
She was an avid pet lover having many dogs and cats over the years, each holding a special place in her heart. Her greatest accomplishment was providing for her kids, it was a huge task which she did effortlessly. She was a special person who touched many lives but none more so than her four children who were lucky enough to be able to call her Mom.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Charles and Madeline Mason, and a brother Robert Mason.
Ethel will forever be loved and missed by her children Randy (Lori), Christopher (Tracy), Stephen and Krystle Torchia (Joseph); grandchildren Samantha, Stephen Jr., Randy Jr., Megan, Madeline, Joey and Olivia. She is also survived by a sister Elizabeth Brice, a brother Richard Mason (Eva); and nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:45AM Monday, March 10th at St. Rose Roman Catholic Church 603 Seventh Ave. Belmar NJ 07719. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:45AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Ethel was a caring and generous person; her family would ask that you continue to her generosity by making a contribution in her name to Shriner's Children's Hospital at lovetotherescue.org.
