Sigrid T. Frandsen Obituary

Sigrid Teresa Frandsen (née Barton), cat protector, game aficionado, plant lover, former hiker, choir member, and occasional bowler, crossed over to heaven via the rainbow bridge in the early morning of March 1, 2025.

Born on April 15, 1945 in New Jersey, Sigrid was the first of seven children to William Henry and Ingeborg Lilla "Lillian" Barton (née Jorgensen). She took her first-born role seriously; caring for her siblings while instilling in them strong values of righteousness and integrity, of which she carried throughout her life.

Sigrid was driven by doing the right thing, even though she didn't always do things the "right way". She loved in her own way, was genuinely kind, insatiably curious, deeply perceptive, and so smart! She would selflessly step up when needed, even with nothing to gain. She particularly cared for those who were vulnerable and in need.

Sigrid raised three daughters with her first husband, Bill Frandsen, in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and New Jersey. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse, and then as an office manager for an ophthalmology practice for the remainder of her career. In 2005, Sigrid married Milton "Milt" Cannan, her loyal partner. They spent many happy years together, vacationing every fall in the Outer Banks and frequenting diners. Milt remained committed to caring for Sigrid in the final years of her illness.

Sigrid is survived by her husband Milton Cannan; daughters Anastasia Frandsen, Kirsten Frandsen, and Sigrid Frandsen (Frederick Anton); stepdaughter Wendy Cannan (Matt Gissel); siblings Karen Barton, Kelly Barton, Kathy (Joseph) Bruess, and Molly (Edward) Wiseley; grandchildren Julian, Lili, Emma, Jackson, Lila, and Anders; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and cats Ziggy and Peanut. She was preceded in death by her father William Henry Barton; mother, Lillian Barton; brothers Gerald and Brion Barton; and sister-in-law Doreen Barton.

A viewing will be held at 10 am on Thursday March 6 at Evoy Funeral Home in North Cape May with a memorial service and luncheon to follow. Interment will be at 1 pm on Friday, March 7 at Whitemarsh Memorial Park Cemetery (1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sigrid's name and sent to: The Alzheimer's Association and/or Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2086 Parkview Ave. Abington, PA 19001.
