Please share a memory of Zita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Zita Marie Jennings, nee Dithrich, born July 20th, 1943, to Abbie and Paul Dithrich, in Pittsburg, PA. Raised in Brockway, PA with her siblings Paul and Bob, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Graduating from HS she entered service in the US Navy until 1965, moving back to Brockway and through a connection with her brother Bob, met William who, in 1968, became her loving husband of nearly 58 years. Survived by her husband Bill, and children Paul (Jennifer), Eileen, Cathleen and her grandchildren: Justin Pfaff, Zachary and Catherine. There is a great deal of her life contained in the punctuation and spaces in the short synopsis above. Her loving kindness and acceptance of those around her was almost always overwhelming in the breadth and depth of her deeply held convictions for those where were family and she considered family. Those who knew her best understood there was always a space at the table for them she would turn no one away. Even after leaving, you felt like you belonged, even if the advice or conversation was not a positive one. You would certainly not forget the food or the treats she would bake, which seemed she made especially for you before your arrival. The brightest highlights in her life were her grandchildren, Justin, Zachary and Catherine. Each with their own special gifts that brought her joy and aways wanted to be a part of their success and development. They all will carry special memories of their grandma, especially when they see a cardinal or eat a treat from her recipe cards. Zita remained quiet in the community but tried to make an impact with her service to others as a home health aide for Holy Redeemer, a scouting mother or support of the many activities her family engaged. Being a spouse of a member of the military and first responder volunteer fire company, those who know understand the struggles and the sacrifices necessary to support the community around them. Her silent testament and sacrifices will continue to echo through the lives of those she touched and loved. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Monday, February 24th from 1:30 – 3pm at Evoy Funeral Home. Services will be celebrated at 3pm immediately following the viewing.
