Nancy J. Barnes (nee Houck) 86, of North Cape May (Town Bank), NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12th 2025. Her passing will leave a void that her family will never be able to fill.

Born February 16, 1938 in Upper Darby, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Houck. Nancy attended St. Alice School, West Catholic Girls' High School, and later Delaware County Community College. She originally lived in Folcroft, PA where she raised 4 children and fulfilled her dream of moving to the "Shore".

While in Delaware County, she worked as a regional office manager for Neenah Foundry, a leading manufacturer of iron and steel castings based in Wisconsin. While employed with Neenah, she handled sales and ordering for the Northeastern Region of the US.

Nancy and her husband, Dick, were involved with Marriage Encounter through their former parish of St. Gabriel in Norwood, PA. Together they taught Pre-Cana classes to young engaged couples in the Philadelphia Archdiocese. While in the Cape May area, Nancy was a member of the Red Hat Society and was active in the Town Bank Property Owners Association.

She loved enjoying the beaches of Cape May and the Delaware Bay Beach of Town Bank with her entire family. Her favorite past-time was enjoying a cocktail with the love of her life, her husband Dick, while taking in the beautiful sunsets over the Delaware Bay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Brian Houck, Joe Miller and Jack Miller; and her son Michael V. Barnes.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Richard W. (Dick) Barnes; two sons, Richard (Beth) and Gary (Effie), a daughter Susan Barnes Shields (Rich), and a daughter-in-law Sharon Barnes; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10AM until 11AM at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God 680 Town Bank Road North Cape May. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

The family would prefer donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Dementia Society of America or the American Cancer Society.
