Obituary of Catherine Oney

Catherine E. "Cathy" Oney (née Taylor), aged 65, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Cape May, New Jersey. Born on July 7, 1959, in Cape May Court House, NJ, Cathy was known for her kindness and quiet strength. She dedicated 25 years of her career to the Cape May County Social Services, where she was committed to assisting those in need. Additionally, after retirement, she worked with Visiting Angels, helping homebound individuals, showcasing her loving and gentle nature. Cathy enjoyed crewelwork, needlepoint, and sewing. Her hobbies also included reading, listening to Elvis, watching NASCAR, and spending cherished moments with her grandson. A proud and loving family woman, she often expressed her joy in the accomplishments and company of her loved ones. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Taylor; her son, Christopher Oney and wife Anna; her grandson, Dean Oney; and siblings, Sheppard Taylor Jr. and wife Laurie, Kenneth Taylor and wife Tracy, Charles Taylor, and Brenda Taylor and husband Joseph. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Sheppard Taylor, and her husband, John Oney. Services to honor Cathy's life will be held on August 13th at Evoy Funeral Homes. Inc., located at 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Penny Angels Beagle Rescue or the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation, organizations that reflect her compassionate spirit.
