Judith Ann Butterfield Schacht April 11, 1942 – February 14, 2023 Judith Butterfield Schacht died peacefully on Valentine’s Day morning of complications from COVID and COPD. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, her one and only true home town, even though in her long and full life she also lived in Delaware, Puerto Rico, Memphis, West Virginia, and finally “down the shore,” in Cape May, NJ. She loved Mack’s pizza, the Wildwood boardwalk, The Sound of Music, Disney movies, the Phillies, and crocheting warm and beautiful gifts to share. She despised Brussels sprouts and social inequity with a fiery passion. She loved cars and driving, frequently over the speed limit – fast enough to break the rules but (usually) not fast enough to get a ticket. Judy loved and was loved by many, including her sister, Betty Gilreath; her four kids (especially her favorite, which was all of us): Amy Schacht, Rebecca Schacht, Melissa Agee, and Jay Schacht; her niece and nephew Cyndi and Alan Hoelzle, and nephews Kyle and Christopher James. She was Beach Nana to six grandkids: Ben Whong, Jake Henley, Oliver Whong, Grace Henley, Wyatt Henley, and Ruth Schacht, all of whom brought her endless joy and whom she loved without limit. She had great affection and appreciation for her brother-in-law, Miles Gilreath; and her sons-in-law, Paul Whong and James Agee. Judy was all-in with everything she did. As a stay-at-home-mom, she drove us kids all over creation for extracurricular activities, made thousands of home-cooked, nutritionally balanced meals for six, sewed matching outfits and Halloween costumes, and taught us the importance of making the world a better place. After getting her master’s degree and leaving West Virginia, she worked for many years at Ferris School, Delaware’s juvenile detention facility for adolescent boys. She believed that every child deserved to be loved and to know how to read. She dedicated her training and talent as a special education teacher to make that happen for the kids many others had given up on. Judy was perhaps the most extroverted person in human history and loved telling stories to anyone she encountered. She was witty and sarcastic, and her mind moved at the speed of light. She had friends far and wide. She especially loved the babies at the Cape Regional Medical Center Early Education Center, where she volunteered and worked with her dear friend Maureen Kersch. We are eternally grateful her neighbors Mike and Carey Sattler, who were so supportive of her in her final years. May we all be so fortunate as to be surrounded by such kindness in times of need. We miss Judy terribly and are grateful for the time we had with her. If you would like to join us to celebrate her life, join us at 5pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Sunset Beach, 502 Sunset Blvd in Cape May. All are welcome. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
