Margaret Alice Ochs (nee Verity)96- of Cape May Court House, passed away peacefully at the Court house Convalescent Center in cape may court house on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Margaret was born in Freeport, NY and lived most of her life in Islip, NY where she married the late Kurt Karl Ochs and raised her two children: Donald W. Ochs of Cape May Point and Joan Marie Elliott of Lake Sherwood, MO. Margaret and Kurt were married almost 60 years. Margaret is survived by Donald and Joan as well as six grandchildren: Lisa Murphy, D. Wesley Ochs Jr., Kenneth Ochs, Mark Elliott, David Elliott and Kevin Elliott. She also has 11 great-grandchildren. Before moving to the Cape May area, Margaret and her husband also lived in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Her career was in the insurance business and her favorite hobbies included her flower and vegetable gardens, ceramics and oil painting, which she began at the age of 60. A genuinely caring and kind person, Margaret always has time for others. She volunteered for many causes with her church and even found time for airplane spotting during the Korean War.
