Dorothy Y Bortney, age 92, of North Cape May passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Victorian Manor Nursing Home. Dorothy was born June 2, 1925 in Fredericksburg, VA; formerly lived in New York City, NY & Atlantic City, NJ; and has been a Cape May area resident since 1957. She is the daughter of the late Clarence and the late Susan Ethel (Rollins) Reeves. Dorothy attended Cape May Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Bortney on 03/18/2011, her brothers: Fred & Clarence, and her sisters: Louise, Alice, & Susan. Dorothy is survived by two daughters: Donna Boyle of North Cape May, NJ & Sharon (Jerry) Jorgenson of Cape May Court House, NJ; and one son: John (Kathy) Bortney of FL. Also surviving are her sister: Virginia; her five grandchildren: Eric Bortney, Cierra Bortney, Nick Nardicchio, Kevin Boyle Jr., Kyle Boyle; and her great grandchildren: Kevin Boyle III, Jackson & Peggy Bortney. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave, Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Private burial will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
