James Joseph Sobol, age 90, of Villas, NJ passed away peacefully Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home. James was born December 23, 1926 in Manhattan, NY; formerly lived in Woodside, NJ; and has been a Cape May area resident since 1987. He is the son of the late Steve and the late Mary (Nertz) Sobol. James served his country in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Coca Cola Bottling Co, Manhattan, NY as a Route Salesman for 38 years. James was a Life Member of the VFW Post #2813 in Sunnyside, NY; was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Stella Maris Council # 3546 of Erma, NJ; and was a member of the WWII Navy Seabees. He was an usher for many years at St Raymond's RC Church in Villas. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Dorothy Maroszek, Florence Crossnohere, Elsie Beckner, Mildred Jankowski, Mary Pace, & Helen Vignola. James is survived by 3 sisters: Stella Wisnowski, Frances Tormey, & Margaret Oleary; and many nieces & nephews. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
