Robert J. Hutchinson, age 80, of North Cape May passed away suddenly Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home. Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA (Schuylkill); and has been a Cape May area resident for 7 years. He was formerly a police officer for the city of Philadelphia in the stake out unit the "Granny Squad", retiring after 20 years of service. Robert was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Air Force. He was a member of the F.O.P. Lodge #5; the DAV # 44 of Del Haven, NJ; was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Stella Maris Council #5343 of Erma; the Moose Lodge of Erma; and a recipient of Chaplin of 4 Chaplins. Robert was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann and of the Bocce Club of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice McGlade in 1995. Robert is survived by his sister Joanne (Joseph) Gruss of Philadelphia, his niece JoAnne, and nephew Joseph. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 1 2017 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to11:00.
