Joseph P. Martin, age 86, of North Cape May passed away peacefully Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home. Joseph was born in Philadelphia, Pa; was formerly of that city; and has been a Cape May area resident since 1955. He is the son of the late Joseph P and the late Helen (Sczypiarski) Martin. Joseph served his country in the US Navy on the CA139 USS Salem. He was a Union Carpenter working out of Local #1743/255 of Wildwood, NJ. Joseph enjoyed going to the casinos, spending time with his family, and making people laugh. He was preceded in death by his daughter Colleen Martin in 2003 and his brother James Harry. Joseph is survived by his wife Lorraine (nee Wescott) Martin, his daughter: Brenda Martin (Murphy) Boudreaux, and his son: Richard (Dorothea) Martin. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Ashley Larson, Jade Martin, Alysha Martin, & Murphy Boudreaux III; and 2 great grandchildren: Ava Larson & Logan Martin Wiley. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
