Margaret Mary Grimes Spratt, age 79, of Townbank, NJ (formerly Wynnewood, PA) died peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the caring hands of staff at Victoria Manor Nursing Home. Peggy was born March 7, 1937 in Narberth, PA to parents George V and Margaret M (Feeney) Grimes. She attended St Margaret's RC Elementary School and remained a parishioner there throughout most of her adult life. Following a career with the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, she became a breeder and competitive dog show handler of her beloved Australian Silky Hair Terriers, winning "Best of Show" and numerous other awards at prestigious competitions including the Westminster Dog Show held in Madison Square Garden. Peggy was a committed rescue dog advocate and frequently brought therapy dogs to visit home bound residents in local Nursing Homes. She loved the Jersey shore, and spent many summers in Avalon, where she met her husband Ray. In addition to her loving husband of 46 years, Peggy leaves behind a brother Bernard and his wife Mary-Carroll, their children Mary-Beth, Mark, John and Michael, brother George (deceased) and his wife Joan, their children Mary Ellen, Christopher and Patrick (deceased). There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
