Bernard E "Bernie" Pettit, Sr., age 51, of Green Creek passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Bernie was born in Philadelphia; was formerly from the Grey's Ferry Section of Philly; and has been a Cape May area resident for 35 years. Bernie was a molder for the Resdel Company of Erma for 8 years. He was a collector/bell ringer for the Salvation Army and was an avid sports fan, especially the Eagles & Phillies. Bernie enjoyed fishing and spending time with family, especially his sons and grandsons. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Debbie Reid, Ronald Pettit, Jimmy Pettit, Joseph Pettit, Elizabeth Lauber, Cecelia Koch, & Delores Bortles. Bernie survived by his wife Kelly (nee Kreer) Pettit, and his sons: Bernard E (Jess) Pettit, Jr., James J Pettit, Sr., Keith D (Kayla) Pettit, & John P Pettit. Also surviving are: his brother George (Carol) Pettit; his grandsons: Jayden A Pettit & James J Pettit, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews. There will be Funeral Service at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Bernie's memory to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, PO Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
