Hazel L "Hazelnut" Pietras, age 108, of Rio Grande, NJ passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. Hazel was born in Ludington, MI; formerly lived in Tampa & Clearwater, FL and has been a long-time Cape May area resident. She was a self employed interior decorator. Hazel enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, tatting, playing cards, playing pool, cooking, entertaining and enjoying an occasional Manhattan. She organized her own 100th birthday party with almost 200 guests attending. Hazel made all the centerpieces and favors out of hazelnuts and everyone toasted her with hazelnut liquor. She is survived by 3 children: Carl (Joana) Timm, Pete (June) Pietras, and Vyan (John) Lapworth. Also surviving are: 7 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
