John Patrick Smith, age 67, of West Cape May passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Cape Regional Medical Center. John was born July 18, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. He is the son of Jeanette (Lynch) Smith and the late John T Smith. John attended LaSalle High School in Philadelphia and was a 1971 graduate of Notre Dame University. He was a past President of the Home Association of the Peterson Little VFW Post # 386 in Cape May. John retired after 23 years of service with the Sears Corporation in the Corporate Retail Management Department in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his father John T Smith. John is survived by his mother Janet Reeves of Villas, NJ and his sister Veronica (William) Dicks of Philadelphia, PA. Also surviving are his nieces: Janet Thomson of Clayton, NC, Patricia Jividen of Willow Springs, NC, and many grand nieces & nephews. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in John's memory to the Peterson Little VFW Post #386, 419 Congress St, Cape May, NJ 08204.
