Edward T McDonough of Green Creek, NJ passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1930, Ed was a trucking company manager, worked for the USPS, and for the family travel agency. He was married for 47 years to the late Geraldine "Gerri" Kelly and they retired to NJ in 1993. Ed was an active member of the DAV #44, VFW, Coast Auxiliary, and Knights of Columbus 3546 of Erma. At age 17 he joined the Armed Forces to serve in the Army during the Korean War with the 82nd Airborne Ranger/4th Company, the 504 Parachute Team, and the 187th Regimental Combat Team (Rakkasan). He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Parachute Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Arrow Head, and Korean Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars. Ed was a quiet man, loved football, walking, socializing with his fellow veterans, and traveling. His greatest passion was keeping his 4th Company Ranger group together through communications and reunions. Ed was predeceased by his mother Catherine Meyers McDonough Fitzgerald and his sister Mary Jane Catherine Fortier. He is survived by his son Edward T McDonough, Jr. of Prospect Park, PA; daughter Maureen McDonough Pappas; and grandchildren: Alana & Brendan Pappas of West Chester, PA. Ed will be missed by tons of friends and dozens of loved ones from the Gallagher and Kelly families. Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening, July 30, 2015 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. A second viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Friday morning July 31, 2015 at St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. In Lieu of flowers, consider a donation to your local Veteran's Charity.
