Obituary of Robert A Shoemaker

Robert A Shoemaker, age 87, of Cape May passed away on June 13, 2015. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Irene. He is survived by his children Linda Martino (Anthony), Robert A Jr., and four grandchildren: Anthony (Cara), Susan, Caitlyn, & Robert E. Bob grew up in Chestnut Hill where he spent most of his adult life before retiring to Cape May. After attending Germantown High School, Bob worked as a Claims Manager with Harleysville Insurance Company for 45 years. He served as President of the Chestnut Hill Venetian Club for many years. He was also very active in and served on the board of the Villas' Fishing Club. Bob and Irene had a passion for Cruising and enjoyed numerous trips all over the world. Closer to home he enjoyed boating, fishing, and relaxing on his deck at the "Shack". Bob was a loving husband, incredible Dad, an awesome "Pop", and a great friend to many. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave, Cape May, NJ 08204 starting at 10:00 AM, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to his favorite charities: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19104-4319 or Special Olympics of New Jersey, 1 Eunice Kennedy Shriver Way, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648-2301.
