About US
The newest of the Evoy Funeral Homes, Inc., at 3218 Bayshore Road in North Cape May, marks the culmination of over 100 years of funeral service in the Delaware Valley.
In 1879, Martin Evoy established the first parlors at 1939 Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia, subsequently moving in 1900 to 2809 Diamond Street where the establishment was maintained until 1942.
Martin Albert Evoy, son of the founder, entered the business in 1900. In 1907, he helped his father to open a funeral home in Haddon Heights at High Street and White Horse Pike. Several decades later it would become the Evoy-Banasz Funeral Home. In 1926, a larger home was established at 205 Second Avenue in the suburban Camden community.
William B. Evoy, son of Martin Albert and grandson of Martin, entered the firm in 1933. He moved the original parlor to 3140 North Broad Street. After the passing of the two elder Evoys and due to a growing clientele who appreciated the courteous, efficient, reasonable service provided, William built the present Georgian colonial style funeral home at 129 White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights, in 1949.
Wyn W.A. Evoy, son of William B. Evoy, was an investigator for the medical examiners office in Camden County and became a member of the family business in 1965. He and his father opened the new Evoy Funeral Home on Bayshore Road in 1967.
When the funeral home began experiencing a rise in cremation requests from client families, the Evoy’s established the Cape May County Crematory in 1972. It is owned and operated by Evoy Funeral Homes and is conveniently located behind the funeral home at Bayshore Road. The crematory is managed by Brian Dickinson, Crematory Manager.
Evoy Funeral Homes, Inc. is currently staffed by the 4th generation of Evoy’s, as well as a highly experienced group of funeral directors who are known for their ability to provide non-sectarian funeral service, dignity, courtesy and personal attention to the surrounding community.
